Salem Public Library was flooded in heavy rains occurring August 27-28. =
As a result, the library will be closed at least through September 2.=20

Unlike the flood of August 2003 when 40% of the juvenile collection was =
lost, no materials were lost in the current flood. The restoration =
process from last year's flood was to conclude August 30. In an effort =
to prevent a second year of total reconstruction, Rapid Response =
Restoration is using the Water Out(R) process to extract water from the =
building and its contents. This necessitates complete evacuation of the =
building until the process is complete.

As tragic as this second flood is to the library, we fared better than =
much of Columbiana County. Many roadways were washed away and the =
village of Lisbon is without power and water. Flood waters were as high =
as twenty-five feet. The devastation to property is staggering.
