GeoMarketing for Public Librarians - Videoconference

Thursday, September 23, 2004

1:00 PM to 3:30 PM
MOLO Regional Library System Training Center, Newcomerstown, OH

Scheduled Speaker: Dr. Christie Koontz, Director, GeoLib Program,
Florida State University

Registration is limited to 36

Public libraries today must communicate return on investment, and
compete for limited funds with other government entities. This
videoconference will introduce you to a new decision making tool,
Internet accessible Public Library Geographic Database (PLGDB)
<http://www.geolib.org/PLGDB.cfm> PLGDB The PLGDB will facilitate
identification of geographic market areas, from which you can extract
important customer characteristics (such as age, education levels, and
language spoken). The workshop will introduce the query capabilities of
the PLGDB (i.e., methods and tools used to ask what-if questions); and
offer a step by step of how to create unique maps which can be printed,
bookmarked or emailed. PLGDB is designed to offer public library
decision makers access to data that can shape local, regional and
national library policies. Go beyond standard statistics!
