  Introducing the Perkins Panda Adaptive Early Literacy Kit

  The State Library of Ohio has the Perkins Panda Adaptive Early Literacy Kit available for lending to public libraries for group programs in the library or as outreach.

  Utilizing a collection of reading materials, the cuddly Perkins Panda toy promotes learning.

  The Perkins Panda kit allows early learners to:
  -               listen and read along in Braille and print as the Perkins Panda tells fun and interactive stories;
  - connect with tactile features in the book as stories are read; and
  - hug the plush Perkins Panda as they enact the story with props.

  Sighted children also can benefit from the literacy skills and tactile learning experiences provided by the Perkins Panda kit.

  "The State Library of Ohio is committed to finding new and innovative tools for public libraries touse to introduce the joy of reading to children with disabilities ,” said Jo Budler, State Librarian.
