Are you looking to enhance your planning, decision-making, and
overall management skills? Does your library manage risks and
identify opportunities with funding sources, users, vendors, and
others? Could your library improve and start developing more
robust, relevant, and realistic strategies and plans for the
future? If so, this seminar on competitive and market
intelligence could be the ticket. Join us for an afternoon of
learning and discussion as we apply business strategies to the
LIS environment and find out how all libraries can improve.

      Description

Competitive and market intelligence are often viewed as processes or
functions that are applicable to businesses only. While libraries and
non-profit organizations don't typically face peer competition, they
confront serious competitive factors that may be identified, understood,
anticipated, and monitored.

In this web-based, interactive videoconference, we will examine the
functions and practices of competitive and market intelligence, and how
they can benefit libraries and non-profit organizations.

This seminar is designed for librarians and information professionals
who are interested in learning new tools to enhance their planning,
decision-making, and overall management skills. It provides an overview
of the benefits, practices, and tools for intelligence, specific to LIS
environments. No prior background in competitive or market intelligence
is required.

*Critical Learning Questions*
- What is competitive and market intelligence?
- How can intelligence practices and tools support libraries and other
information-based organizations?
- How can it help me manage risks and identify opportunities with my
funding sources, users, vendors, and others?
- How can it help me in developing more robust, relevant, and realistic
strategies and plans?
