      Speaker(s)

Dr. Cheng is Assistant Professor in the Columbus Program of the School 
of Library and Information Science at Kent State University. She teaches 
courses in the foundations of library and information science, 
organization of information, and research methods. She will be teaching 
two new courses (Technology and E-publishing) and the Usability Testing 
workshop in the coming school year.

Her research interests includes information seeking, human-computer 
interaction, web usability, and scholarly communication. She holds a 
B.A. degree in Humanities from the National Taiwan University in Taiwan 
and received her MLS and Ph.D. in Information Science from Indiana 
University.


      Description

The goal of this workshop is to introduce fundamental concepts, 
principles, and techniques for user testing and evaluation on the Web. 
We will cover various methods, including heuristics, user/needs 
analysis, and task analysis. Techniques for data collection and 
analysis, along with report creation and presentation will also be covered.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with usability testing 
methods and procedure. Upon completion of this class, participants will 
be able to understand the methods and techniques for conducting 
usability testing and will have gained hands-on experience with 
usability testing methods.
