[OPLINLIST] Library Card Numbers

We are redesigning our library cards and will be changing from Alpha-Numeric
barcodes to Numeric only barcodes.  One question we haven't been able to
answer yet is whether or not we would like to randomize the numbers. Do
others randomize the card numbers or are they issued in numerical order? If
you do randomize,  how many digits are included? (i.e. in a 10 digit
barcode, are all 10 digits randomized? Seven?).
