[OPLINLIST] child library cards

We are a small town library located close to our school. We keep the
children's library cards here until the child turns 14. At that time they
get another library card that they take with them and have to use it to
check out items. We are wondering if we should start them out with a
library card that they can take with them. If there are other
small libraries that do it differently and it's working, could you let me
know what your procedure is?
