The Dayton Metro Library is seeking a full-time Workforce Development Manager to join the Information Services team at the Main Library in downtown Dayton.  The successful candidate will develop and leverage workforce and job seeking connections in the community in order to provide exceptional services and programs to patrons.  They will also ensure that staff members are trained and knowledgeable so that they can skillfully utilize the Library's workforce resources effectively. Essential Job Duties

*         Develops and manages strategic initiatives to ensure the Library provides relevant, innovative and timely workforce development services, programs and resources in support of the Library's mission.

*         Hires, manages, evaluates and schedules direct reports.  Determines regular work assignments of the Nonprofit and Business Services Specialists to achieve strategic outcomes.  Serves as liaison between these staff and the Information Services Manager.

*         Collaborates with External Relations to design and implement innovative and impactful workforce development programs to align DML's strategic priorities to best serve the needs of the community.

*         Maintains relationships with and develops communications plans with external partners.  Represents DML and promotes library services while attending workforce development and job seeking-related community meetings. Develops proposals and executes contractual agreements for workforce development and job seeking-related library services.

*         Collaborates with and advises the Collection Development department on workforce development and related collections and resources; makes recommendations for both selection and deselection in relevant subject areas.

*         Serves as a resource and assists DML staff in the provision of workforce development and job seeking services or programs.

*         Partners with Staff Development to design, recommend and deliver workforce development and job seeking related training courses/workshops to DML staff.

*         Provides workforce development partners and patrons with instruction in the use of library materials and resources. This can include assistance in reference, readers' advisory, and resource navigation.


Job Qualifications

*         Ability to maintain effective relationships with community officials, leaders, organizations, the public and the staff. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reference resources, general business periodicals, professional journals, policy and procedure manuals, and governmental regulations.

*         Ability to write reports and business correspondence clearly and informatively.

*         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, patrons, and members of the community individually and in a group setting. Ability to deal effectively with confrontational individuals and/or challenging situations.

  *   Ability to plan, schedule and oversee departmental operations and personnel.
  *   Knowledge of workforce development and job seeking principles, theories, concepts, best practices and the local and regional workforce ecosystem.
  *   Knowledge of literature, periodicals, audiovisual materials, web sites, social media, and other electronic media which support a diverse, current, and relevant collection in support of workforce development and job seeking topics.
  *   Ability to develop programs and services to meet community needs. Ability to prepare and administer budgets. Ability to connect with internal and external partners to positively impact workforce development and job seeking initiatives.
  *   Valid Ohio driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle record, and continuous insurability required.
  *   Advanced Degree preferred; minimum of three to five years of increasingly responsible experience in workforce development or job seeking setting at a professional level, and supervisory experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:  Starting annual salary is $51,267 with an exceptional benefits package.
