MidPointe Library - Library Specialist – Full Time–West Chester Ohio



We’re looking for a customer service focused individual to provide great service to our patrons!



As a specialist, your day would include working at the customer service desk or children's desk providing various services including curbside service; answering questions using print and electronic resources, accepting US passport applications; giving reading recommendations to all ages, using cash register and credit card machine software, assisting with check-in and check-out, pulling holds and shelf read; and giving assistance with makerspace instruction. Regularly present a story time, program or event, and provide outreach to various groups in the community. Follow and explain library policies, processes, and procedures.



MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. Nestled between Cincinnati and Dayton, the county has a wide variety of schools, entertainment, dining experiences, sports, and cultural events. We have something for everyone!


To Be Successful, you will need:

  *   Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a college degree is highly desired.
  *   Must provide evidence of U.S. citizenship for passport duties.
  *   Have prior experience creating, preparing, and presenting, engaging, fun, and educational programs and events for all ages.
  *   Must have excellent customer service, a strong service ethic, sound judgement, reliability, good research skills, excellent problem-solving skills, adapt rapidly to change, and cope with uncertainty.
  *   Have a good knowledge of literature that appeals to children, teens, and adults.
  *   Must have computer experience that includes MS Office, the Internet, and ideally the library catalog and research databases.
  *   Need to be able to independently (and with others), quickly, and favorably respond to new or changed responsibilities and/or situations, be detail oriented, be able to prioritize, and handle confidential information.
  *   Must be able to effectively read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English.
  *   Regular and predictable physical attendance is required.


Hours:

40 hours per week. The 2-week rotating schedule is:

Week One: Mon & Tues 8:00-5:00, Wed & Thurs 11:15 - 8:15, and Sat 8:15 - 5:15 pm.

Week Two: Mon & Tues 8:00 - 5:00, Wed & Thurs 11:15 - 8:15, and Fri 8:00 - 5:00.



Rate of Pay:

The pay range is $15.74 - $24.89, the pay rate depends on experience.

Physical Requirement:

-Must have manual dexterity sufficient to meet job requirements which includes operating library equipment including the conveyor belt check-in system and basic troubleshooting.

-Must have the ability to move book crates that could weigh up to 75 pounds when full and move book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds when full.

-Must be able to work in areas that may contain cleaning odors, dust, or other possible allergens.
