Hi Alexandria,
We have Windows 10 installed on patron computers in several of our
libraries here in Ohio. We haven't experienced the specific symptoms you've
described. However, because we use Deep Freeze, because Microsoft has taken
such a haphazard approach to updates on Windows 10, and because the quality
of those updates are frequently in the toilet... we prevent the Windows 10
patron computers from getting automatic updates by managing them with WSUS.
This way, we can test an update on one or two computers before allowing
them to roll out en masse. This helps to avoid catastrophic problems any
given Microsoft update might cause with Deep Freeze and helps to stem the
onslaught of problems Microsoft has with their updates.
Using WSUS may not specifically solve your problem, but it may help you to
manage/mitigate it at least and perhaps methodically determine what exactly
IS the root cause.
HTH and Good luck!
Chad
