[OPLINTECH] Windows10 in Patron Computers

The mention of Deep Freeze was just our own example situation. My point is
really that since you're already using domain-joined computers, WSUS might
be fairly easy step to take to manage Windows Updates in your own situation
while you diagnose the problem.

Not knowing all of the intricate details of your situation, another quick
and simple test/step to try might be to fully reset the Windows Update
subsystem on just *one* of your computers to see if it has any impact on
your symptoms. Googling around will quickly point you towards the necessary
steps, but here is a link to Microsoft's instructions
<https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components>.
I'd suggest going though all of the steps in the first sitting. Don't
bother with the "if this doesn't work, then try this next thing, then if
that doesn't work, try this next thing." In my experience, the lesser steps
have never helped and only serve to waste time. If you're going to do
something....Do it right; Do it once.

If shooting from the hip and resetting Windows Updates doesn't work:
Since you're building your computers from an existing image, and the
problem still exists after you re-image your computers, it's possible that
the original image has a problem. You can verify this by reimaging one test
computer and then doing *no* (or the least possible number of) changes to
it and see if the problem persists. If the problem persists, then you
probably have a problem baked into your image and you can eliminate all of
the post-image steps you take. If the problem *isn't* there, then you're
introducing the problem at some point after the image and you should be
able to methodically figure out exactly *what* in your normal post-image
procedure is introducing it. If you're slow, deliberate, and methodical in
your testing, you should be able to isolate the specific point at which the
problem is introduced.

HTH,
Chad
