[OPLINTECH] Faxing Options

We had POTS line faxing since long before I got here, and we recently switched to Nextiva using their vfax fax bridge hardware + service.
The long and short of it is, we have a seemly reliable fax over the internet setup that cost around $250 in hardware/setup, plus about an hour of my time and $10/month.
($10/month is their 500 fax level, which we have not exceeded in the 10ish months that we've had it hooked up)
We are using our analog fax machine plugged into their bridge, so the only thing I needed was an ethernet drop where we had the fax machine.
I like this setup because nothing changed for our staff in terms of how to send a fax.
Best of luck and have a good day.
Joe

We used to use Fax24. The idea is that it’s easy to use (which is true in my experience) and that patrons won’t ask staff for help (which is not true). I think we were happy with it.
Now we offer public faxing trough our TBS scan stations; we offer free faxing (not international).

Howdy OPLIN Tech Group,
We have never implemented faxing services for our patrons. There was a small-town grocery that offered the service near a few of our locations, so we would guide patrons to those grocery stores for faxing needs. We've heard that the grocery
is doing away with that service, and we get the question frequently enough that we want to figure out if this is a service we should add.
Right now, I'm in the research and budgeting phase. Trying to figure out what options exist and how much we should budget for this sort of project for next year.
I'm aware of online free faxing services. The workflow is far from easy, especially for less tech-savvy individuals. Getting physical paperwork scanned digitally, then uploading it to a website, is still a difficult workflow for many.
I have also heard about this option: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__faxscan24.com_&d=DwMFaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=uvtPDr9aeblt6N-L3fYJJW9cJaX9gkNGUUtApq4XI68&m=gMGHjgJ-v5Ce-usC3PKzv-tNfEPaB1zxzUB3Od4Eq5KMgTz1UUHyw1FM3olCoaUK&s=RuaFWENEkB_7kSIaOkoDRx1yX6hV8YcjoMpzCh1SzCw&e=
I believe some libraries already use this service, and we've reached out to the vendor to get more information.
What does everyone else use for faxing? Do you charge patrons for faxing? If so, how much? Do you use the FaxScan24 product? If so, what is your experience with it?
Thank you in advance for all feedback!
Thanks,
Joe
