When the snow starts to fall, you can count on holiday displays popping up in most libraries, schools, and bookstores in America. With TeachingBooks’ Collection Analysis Tool, you can take a deeper look at the titles featured in your December displays and booklists. In this workshop, we will collectively analyze a holiday display, then identify new and diverse titles for inclusion. Registrants will walk away with a conscientious, informed list of diverse holiday titles, as well as an action plan that details how to implement those titles in their existing collections.

In the Spring of 2022, the State Library of Ohio recently announced the launch of the Ohio Collection Analysis Initiative.<http://library.ohio.gov/ocai> Ohio library staff now have exclusive access to an original, self-paced, collection analysis initiative for considering collections that empower children and young adult readers by respecting and appreciating what makes them different and the same. This initiative provides the tools, time, and support to consider your library’s print collections for children and young adults.  

The Ohio Collection Analysis Initiative is a collaborative project of the State Library of Ohio and TeachingBooks.net<https://www.teachingbooks.net/>. The project is funded in whole or in part with Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) federal funds granted to the State Library of Ohio.  The opinions and content expressed do not necessarily reflect the position or policy of IMLS or the State Library of Ohio, and no official endorsement by either agency should be inferred.  This initiative is available for exclusive use by any Ohio library staff. Distributing the Handbook and/or links to any of its components outside of Ohio is prohibited. This material may be shared with colleagues within Ohio.
