Summary
The Ohio History Connection invites applications for the Coordinator, Metadata position. This position provides leadership and expertise in developing creative, collaborative, and sustainable solutions for creating and managing metadata for the organization's digital collections. Contributing to the maintenance of the digital collections, this position will make collection resources more discoverable thereby facilitating and maximizing use of the resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Creates and maintains descriptive, technical and preservation metadata for Ohio Memory collections.
* Supports the development of metadata policies and procedures
* Coordinates metadata workflows and data ingests for digitization projects
* Works in close collaboration with colleagues throughout the institution and at partner institutions to ensure consistent metadata practice
* Assists or leads Ohio Memory trainings
* Provides assistance to rights and reproductions program
* Works with other members of the Outreach division to identify and write grants
* Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects
* Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assists with supervision of volunteers and interns as needed.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in library science, museum studies, public history, or related field. A minimum of one to three years experience with museum, library or archival collections desired. Demonstrated knowledge of cataloging and metadata standards such as MARC, Dublin Core, METS or MODS.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
Technical Skills:
Computer skills, including Microsoft Suite, and database and automated catalogs. Experience with CONTENTdm or other digital asset management systems. Working knowledge of online public access catalogs and HTML preferred.
Reasoning Ability:
Accuracy and attention to detail and deadlines. Requires refined reasoning ability with aptitude in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
Work Environment
Work performed in offices, laboratories, collections storage areas and museum exhibit spaces. Occasional travel, evening and/or weekend work. Work may be stressful at times.
