There’s no denying these are challenging times for libraries--cuts in
funding have lead to shrinking budgets even as some practitioners are
seeing an uptick in demand for services.  What’s more, the future of state
support is far from clear.  So, where can we go from here?

The answer could be lying right in your own backyard: an effective
governing board has a great impact on the overall health and sustainability
of any organization.  Whether your board could use an complete overhaul or
just a tune-up, consider joining us at OHIONET for Build a Better Board--an
intensive, interactive day-long workshop focused on both creating and
maintaining positive and engaged relationships with your board
members--on Tuesday,
April 10th from 10 AM to 3 PM.

Our workshop leader, Ann Riegle, has experienced the good, the bad and the
really ugly when it comes to board development.  With more than 20 years of
professional management experience, Ann has served on boards, worked with
boards as the director of several different non-profit or government
agencies, and gotten up close and personal during her work as a consultant
with library boards.  Director of the New Madison Public Library since
2001, Ann also teaches public speaking and communication skills for Edison
Community College and her high-energy presentations are characterized by
lots of interaction and laughter.
