One of our staff members is in Common Pleas Court today related to a Notary. Be sure you maintain a Journal.

The Notary should record this information for their protection. They are solely responsible for the documents.

Just curious, but since Notaries are functioning as an officer of the court (and not the library), are we even allowed to collect and maintain such granular information?

How would this file of interact with the patron confidentiality laws in Ohio?

Just asking because it seems like such a gray area.

I and the notary at our branch have a printed Excel spreadsheet (contains Date, Patron Name, Patron Address, Document(s) Notarized, Oath or Affirmation Given? and Patron Signature) that we track notarizations with for every transaction. I then gather the stats monthly from both locations for reporting.
