We used it here and had a lot of issues, wasn't a fan of it myself. I think we might've had an older version though, I'm not entirely sure

I was going to go check out Reboot Restore, but it looks like their website (horizondatasys.com<http://horizondatasys.com>) is down. A quick check on the Wayback Machine (https://web.archive.org/) implies that there haven't been any updates to their website since ~July 9, whereas it historically seems to have at least a few updates a month. Is that cause for concern?

Second for Reboot Restore Rx Pro. Discount licenses are available through https://www.techsoup.org/ and good for any build on the current version, not a reoccurring annual license.

We just moved from DeepFreeze to Reboot Restore Rx. At least so far it seem to be doing what we need it to do.

Thanks, guys. Have done that. DeepFreeze acknowledges this as a known issue with Windows 10. I even got to go on 8.64 ahead of schedule which did not fix the issue. 8.63 seems to be the update, according to DeepFreeze, that sparked this issue with Windows 10 H2.

Mindy,

Larry is correct, the thawing and running updates are crucial. We schedule regular updates.

I would also ensure that you are using the most up to date version of Deep Freeze.

Deep Freeze has recommended completely uninstalling Deep Freeze on OS upgrades to avoid some issues. I have had a couple of iMacs that I've had to rebuild after OS upgrades while only thawing the devices.

Any time I've had that issue, usually rebooting them thawed and doing all of the various windows patches & firmware/driver updates and then freezing again seems to fix it.

Subject: [OPLINTECH] Trouble with DeepFreeze

Has anyone else experienced the sporadic lockup of pcs using DeepFreeze? The machines will just randomly lockup while patrons are using them and must be rebooted each time. If you have experienced this and you have found a comparable replacement that you would recommend from experience using it, that would be greatly appreciated. Running our public machines in a “thawed” state to avoid the issue is not an option for us.

Thanks,

Mindy Holmes
